About the Country Program in Ethiopia
Action Against Hunger’s Ethiopia country office was established in 1985 in response to severe drought and subsequent famine, implementing relief and development projects in Tigray, Amhara and Oromia regions. Action against Hunger currently operates in six regions of Ethiopia (Amhara, Benishangul Gumuz, Gambella, Somali, Oromia and Tigray) and in Addis Ababa city administration responding to different crisis and building people’s resilience through a multi-sectoral strategy where nutrition, Food Security and Livelihoods, WASH, and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support activities are integrated to have a meaningful impact on people’s resilience.
With more than 8,900+staff in over 50 countries, last year, we helped 28 million children and their families across 55 countries. We have a country team of over 900 staff in 17 regional and satellite offices. Our main donors in Ethiopia in 2023/24 are BHA, ECHO, EU RESET, UNHCR, UNICEF, GAC, GFFO, BPRM, SIDA, EHF, FAO, WFP, CIAA, Dutch Government and others.
1. Head of Logistics Department
Location: Addis Ababa
Salary Scale: EMS – 10

Skill and educational background
Advanced university degree in Logistics, business or other related fields (professional qualifications in logistics management is preferred)
At least 5 years of senior-level professional experience in a similar role, preferably international experience.
Extensive experience in developing and executing logistics and security strategies.
Required Skills & Experience:
Solid experience managing complex logistics operations (including multiple projects, locations and diverse budgets and teams)
Extensive understanding of logistics standards used by key donors (i.e., USAID/ BHA, BPRM, ECHO, EU, GAC, SIDA, GFFO, CIAA, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNOCHA/EHF, WFP and others)
Excellent analytical, team management, and communication skills.
Extensive humanitarian/development industry experience
Proven Staff Safety and Security experience in developing security comprehension to a variety of staff profiles.
Willingness to deploy into bases for weeks affected by large-scale security situation
Experience in developing, reviewing, piloting, and adapting Standard Operating Procedures in medium to complex humanitarian contexts
A strong ability to analyze strategic Safety and Security trends and develop appropriate plans and responses
Significant experience in security response, including demonstrated experience working with diverse field teams and being able to move to field locations to realize the same
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to initiate good team understanding and people management
Able to work effectively in a multi-sectoral organization requiring strong communication, planning & organization skills
2. Advocacy and Communications Manager
Location: Addis Ababa
Salary Scale: EMS – 09

Skill and educational background
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Public Policy, Political Science, Development Studies, or other related fields (Master’s degree will be a plus).
Experience developing and implementing multisectoral, evidence-based advocacy strategies; focusing on influencing government policies and responses.
Knowledge of food and nutrition security responses in fragile and conflict affected contexts.
Experience developing and writing various advocacy products (policy briefs, reports, letters, talking points)
Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with diverse teams.
Experience building alliances and coalitions addressing global health, nutrition, food security and resilience.
Training in advocacy and/or behavior change communications will be a strong asset.
3 -5 years of previous work experience in Advocacy and Communications in the field of Development and Humanitarian contexts is an asset
Good knowledge and experience in applied photography and audio-visual communication tools
Experience in report writing, and storytelling write-ups with good command of the English language.
Prior work experience in both Humanitarian and Development contexts is desirable

3. ICT Officer – Maternity Cover

BSC Degree in Information technology, Computer science, Information System or other relevant degree from a recognized institution

4. Support Service Director

Bachelor’s degree in social /development/Humanitarian studies/Operations and Supply Chain or other related field
Previous experience in logistics management & program cycle management.
Required Skills, Competencies & Attributes:
Minimum 5 years’ INGO experience in a management role, preferably as Head of Operations Department, Head of Logistics or Field Coordinator
Robust experience of NGO program cycle management, and with experience of working within a complex and matrix organization structure
Substantial experience in logistics, including procurement, supply chain, fleet management & inventory, ICT and Information System (IS)
Significant knowledge of international humanitarian systems, institutions and donors, and of procedures, accountability frameworks
Good experience and knowledge of effective financial and budgetary control and securing and managing grants from major institutional donors
Solid safety and security management experience in complex and conflict location
Good anticipation, planning skills, especially in changing work contexts.
Experience communicating in different cultural work environments
Good communicator: verbal and written
Highly organized, detail oriented and able to work under pressure.
