Job Description

Ethiopian Engineering Corporation (EEC) is transforming its consultancy operations to play a significant role in the Ethiopian Construction Industry. By leveraging its strengths and the new economic opportunities, EEC aims to fill gaps in the construction market and reduce reliance on international firms for mega projects.

EEC’s construction unit focuses on high-end, complex projects, including high-rise buildings, infrastructure (roads, railways, airports), and energy and water sector construction. This unit will evolve into a conglomerate encompassing various business areas, such as Piling, Foundation Works, Energy Solutions, Facility Management, and Construction Materials Production.

Scope of the Role

The role holder will plan and coordinate all site-related HR activities at EEC Construction.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interact with site crew, supervisors, and finance representatives.
  • Report to the head office HR Admin and Advisor, with a dotted line to the site project manager.
  • Collect and enter data related to new joiners, submitting it to the head office HR.
  • Implement employee induction programs for new hires, covering company vision, roles, regulations, and working conditions.
  • Inform employees about policies and procedures.
  • Maintain employee records and facilitate hiring processes, ensuring all documentation is timely and accurate.
  • Manage on-site grievances.
  • Maintain time and attendance sheets, verify hours worked, and submit timesheets for payroll.
  • Track absences and all types of leave.
  • Calculate wages and deductions, monitoring reports for discrepancies.
  • Manage site employees’ cost and Per Diem.
  • Maintain meeting schedules for construction projects.

Job Requirements

  • Education: BA Degree in HR, Management, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience: 2+ years in a similar role within a construction company.

Critical Skills Required

  • Willingness to work extra hours and go the extra mile.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to thrive in challenging environments and willingness to relocate within Ethiopia.
  • Excellent communication and people management skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills.
