Job Opening: Purchaser at Golden Tulip Addis Ababa Hotel

Golden Tulip Addis Ababa Hotel, a five-star upscale hotel part of an international hotel chain, is seeking qualified candidates for the Purchaser position.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

• Place purchase orders and issue call-offs according to production schedules.
• Follow up on supplier confirmation of purchase orders and shipments.
• Create requirements for specified packaging materials (both local and imported) based on medium-term needs.
• Evaluate supplier performance based on quality standards, delivery time, and pricing, ensuring compliance with organizational requirements.
• Inspect purchased products upon delivery and report any issues promptly.
• Perform periodic cost analyses and prepare timely reports on procurement and purchasing activities.
• Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information, and invoices.
• Attend trade shows and exhibitions to stay current with industry trends.
• Work flexible hours to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks.
• Maintain good relationships with all departments and the Home Office to promote effective purchasing.
• Collaborate closely with the Chef and the Food & Beverage Manager to purchase high-quality products while seeking the best prices.
• Ensure proper documentation of all items received by the hotel in accordance with Golden Tulip Hotels-Suites-Resorts purchasing and receiving procedures.
• Maintain a track record of dealing with suppliers in various sectors, including food and beverage, engineering, hotel amenities, and stationery.
• Commit to following all local and corporate policies and procedures related to the Purchasing Department.
• Perform other related tasks as required by company management.

Job Requirements

• Qualification: Degree in Purchasing and Materials Management or a related field from an accredited college/university.
• Work Experience and Skills:
  • At least 4 years of work experience in hotel purchasing, preferably in a 4 or 5-star hotel.
  • Good communication skills and computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of Material Control Systems (MCS) is highly preferred.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic, organized, and loyal individual with leadership qualities.
  • Grade 2nd or 3rd driving license or equivalent is mandatory.
