Role: The driver’s main responsibilities are to safely and reliably drive the Embassy’s official vehicle, including driving for the Ambassador of Malta, provide excellent customer service, clerical support and also carry out other general assistance based on the instructions of the diplomatic staff at the Embassy.
Required qualifications:
- Fluency in oral and written English and Amharic.
- At least 3 years of work experience as a professional driver.
- Possession of valid Ethiopian driving licence.
- Good knowledge of local roads and traffic systems.
- Ability to read maps, use GPS equipment and follow directions.
- Integrity, professionalism, confidentiality; courteous behaviour towards superiors and colleagues at all times.
- Strong service-oriented behaviour, flexibility, ability to work independently and ability to integrate and work in a team.
- Technical and administrative knowledge related to vehicles, vehicles insurance, road traffic in Addis Ababa.
- Willingness to work outside normal working hours.
- Ability to liaise with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable qualifications:
Previous driving work experience as a professional driver at a Diplomatic Mission/ International Organization.
Key responsibilities:
- Official transportation of Embassy personnel.
- Vehicle maintenance (fuelling, washing/cleaning, carrying out and organizing the necessary maintenance services and repair works, maintenance/repair documentation).
- record keeping of journeys and fuel consumption, invoice handling
- handling official administrative issues at MOFA Protocol Office and other local authorities
- photocopying, purchasing of office goods, delivery of goods and official letters/parcels
- Aiding the Ambassador/Diplomatic staff/Local Staff activities with escorting visitors/colleagues
- carrying out other ad hoc tasks as requested.
Start Date: 19 August 2024 or according to arrangement.
Contract duration: 12 Months with possibility of extension (Subject to satisfactory performance).
